Membrane traps MK – PN 40

Up to 32 bar differential pressure depending on version

The capsule of these traps enables precision con- trol in discharging condensate. These traps are used in various applications such as drip, tracing and air venting. Zero steam loss should make them your choice.

Bimetallic traps BK – PN 40 — PN 630

Up to 250 bar differen- tial pressure depending on version

The bimetallic regulator is extremely versatile and robust. It can withstand water hammer and is unaffected by superheated steam. Sub -cooling approximately 10 K over the complete pressure range makes it the right choice for numerous applications.

Thermodynamic traps DK — PN 63/Class 600

Up to 42 bar differential pres- sure depending on version

From the standard trap DK 57 and DK 47, the new thermodynamic DK 45, which comes in any end connection you might need, to the DK 36A/7 for your universal connector.

Float traps used as liquid drainers or for constant drain of hot condensate are a large part of the product line. They vary depending on pressure, condensate flow rate and differential pressure. The ideal product if you can- not afford any backing up of condensate, or if you have to cope with sudden fluctuations of pressure and condensate flow rate.

 Evaluating whether a trap works properly is an important theme when you think of site availability and energy savings.
GESTRA offers equipment for continuous monitor- ing of critical applications, as well as intermittent monitoring for general service.
Sight glass VK 16 — PN 40
Applicable up to 25,8 bar / 300 °C depending on version
The built-in deflector makes the flow in the pipeline visible. Steam loss or blocked traps become obvi- ous if you take a look at this sight glass. The mica disc allows a visual control even if your condensate has a ph -value, up to 10.

GESTRA Condensate Return Equipment
Check valves and condensate pumping systems
 Preventing valves, pumps and complete piping systems from damage that results from backf low of liquids is insured by the use of non return valves. Experience led the way to lightweight wafer type products with excellent flow rates and low pressure drops.
Non return valves in wafer design RK DN 15 – DN 200

Applicable up to 35 bar at 550 °C depending on versionManufactured in several different materials, these valves are appropriate to prevent backf low of many different fluids or gases. The wafer design reduces size and weight.

Swing check valves in wafer design CB DN 50 – DN 300

Applicable up to 26 bar at 450 °C depending on version

Short overall length and full opening with low pres- sure drop, makes these valves an excellent choice. Various materials for both body and seats make them real alternatives to classic flange swing check valves.

Dual plate check valves BB DN 100- DN 1200

Applicable up to 101 bar at 550 °C depending on version
The perfect solution when you require low pres- sure drop. The split disc design of these valves and different springs result in low pressure drop, no matter what gas or liquid we are talking about. For severe service where hydraulic water hammer might destroy your complete piping system, an additional dampening system on these valves could be your solution.Oil & Turbidity Detection
With an optical device we are able to detect 2 ppm oil in the boiler feed water. This is important where oil can contaminate the condensate through heat exchangers. The oil must be discarded in order to protect the steam boiler to serious damage. This unit can be used on ships as a bilge oil monitor as well.

Multistage trim provides precise boiler blowdown controlabilty and extended valve service life. Available in three ANSI/DN versions for applications up to 226 bar. Designed for extended service life with flashing flow conditions and high pressure drops. Rotary 0-100 degree manual scale provides optimum settings. Available with automa- tion, conductivity probe, and controller for precise TDS control. Two year warranty.
PA Series (Intermintent On Off Valves)

Large annular orifice and rapid action provide effective sludge removal for blow -Off applica- tions.
Minimal treated water loss. Avalible in three ANSI/DIN ver- sions for applicatrions up to 226 bar.

Boiler Safety

For the highest boiler safety, GESTRA developed the self monitoring low level alarm system. This system consists of a self monitoring single electrode and a redundant, self checking low level switch. This system is world wide proven and accepted.

Level Control

Even the highest steam demand in critical boiler applications is under control with our modulating level control system con- sisting of a capacitance level sensor combined with a specially designed controller and display module.
NRG 26-40 and NRR 2-40 and URB 2
For smaller boilers in a non demanding environ- ment an intermittent level control with integrated low and high level alarm can be used. This device combines all signals a modern boiler control must have in a single housing.
NAGS 15-1

Conductivity control To maintain a good water quality it is essential to discharge a certain amount of water from the boiler. The GESTRA TDS system (Total Dissolved Solids) automatically controls the water quality in combination with a continuous blown down valve BAE 46.

With our latest digital technology it is possibleto transfer all boiler house related data, including the burner control data, to a higher ranking control system. With a simple Internet Browser you can have online access to your boiler plant without additional software expenses. GESTRA – Self monitoring level electrodes

FlOWSERVE GESTRA -

The electrode operation is based on the conductive measurement principle using the electrical conductivity of the water for signalling water level. The length of the electrode rod determines the switchpoint for the water level limit.

The level electrodes are installed inside steam boilers, vessels or in an external level pot. If the electrode is installed inside the boiler or vessel, a protection tube provided on side ensures correct functioning.
The level electrode can be installed together with one GESTRA level electrode for water level limiting or for high-level alarm in a single protection tube or external level pot.

Gestra Conductivity Monitoring

Basic Principles & Application

All boiler water contains some dissolved solids. These impurities are constantly concentrated due to the evaporation process, i.e. the total dissolved solids (TDS) level increases. If the TDS level were to exceed the permissible maximum stipulated by the boiler manufacturer, foaming and carry-over would take place, leading to contaminiation of the steam distribution system. As a result, the operational reliability of the plant will be impaired, and the boiler and steam system can be badly damaged.

Effective blowdown can be provided by use of bowdown controller in conjunction with conductivity electrode and continuous blowdown valve BAE 46-211/ball valve 510.

Deposits of the fine suspended solids forming scale on the heating surfaces and setting at the bottom of the boiler are the result of residual hardness or an excessive phosphate content within the boiler water. These scale formations form a heat insulating layer, which means that the heat transfer surfaces are now subject to design pressure, but at elevated temperature, which in turn can cause deformation and even an explosion. The answer to this problem is the use of continuous blowdown controller TA 5 / 6 / 7, solenoid valve 340 and intermittent blowdown valve MPA 46 / MPA 47 / MPA 110.

Description
Intermittent valves for manual or automatic and pro- gramme-controlled removing of boiler sludge from land or marine installations, particularly if these installations are operated without constant supervision in accordance with TRD 604. Sludge sediments, which are accumulated precipitates from boiler water that settle at the bottom of the boiler, will be removed from the steam boiler with the the aid of valves PA and MPA. These valves give the boiler a short blow at regular intervals, thereby discharging accumulated sludge and sediments.

  • PA46 and PA47are designed for manual operation (diaphragm actuator can be retrofitted).
  • MPA 46 and MPA 47 feature a diaphragm actuator for compressed air or pressurized water.

Manual Intermittent Blowdown Valves PA 46 and PA 47

The intermittent valves for removing boiler sludge PA 46 and PA 47 are opened by means of a hand lever. A pressure pin forces the spring-loaded valve plug out of the valve seat. The large cross-sectional area of the orifice creates a suction effect, giving a short-term high water flow which will discharge the precipitated sludge and sediments and – if installed – move them to a mixing cooler (= blowdown receiver). The intermittent valve for removing boiler sludge must be completely opened for about 2 seconds with the aid of the hand lever in order to give the boiler a short and highly effective blow.

Principles of Measurement

Conductivity measurement

The water level is detected between the electrode tips and the vessel wall (or reference electrode) and evaluated for control or limita- tion purposes. In this case it is essential that the medium is electrically conductive. The high-integrity self-monitoring design of the level alarms ensures constant supervision of the insulating seal and electrode entry, immediately recognizing malfunctions in the system and failure of the electrode or supply cables. In addition, the equipment features periodic self-checking of the electronic control unit and the corresponding output contacts. Self-monitoring equipment with periodic self- checking is required for boilers with tempe- rature/pressure ratings > 1 bar and > 120 °C and a volume > 50 l. Before installation, the length of the con- ductivity electrode rods must be cut to the required switching levels.

Description
The compact systems NRGS 11-1 and NRGS 16-1 work according to the conductivity measurement principle. With the NRGS 16-1 a maximum of 4 levels can be signalled in conductive liquids:

  • High-level alarm, Low-level alarm, pump ON, pump OFF with one switchpoint each.

The NRGS 1…-1 has a switching controller integrated in the electrode terminal box. External switchgear is not required.
The NRGS 11-1 / NRGS 16-1 are designed to detect and signal different levels in conductive liquids. They are appropriate for use in the power supply, water and chemical industries and particularly suitable for applications in steam boilers and feedwater tanks.
